Overview

West Buckland School was founded in 1858 and is an independent day and boarding school set in 100 acres of beautiful North Devon countryside in the South West of England. For seven consecutive years over two-thirds of A-levels have been passed at A* to B grades. In 2013, 60% of GCSE exams were passed at A* and A grades. This GCSE performance was the best of any co-ed, day and boarding school in Devon, Somerset and Cornwall. Students also benefit from exceptional opportunities in sport, music, the performing arts and outdoor activities.

Unique Points

Students enjoy learning in a beautiful and safe rural location close to the spectacular Atlantic coast in North Devon. Academic results are excellent and the unique location enables students to experience a wide range of activities including surfing, kayaking, climbing and horse riding in addition to the more traditional school sports and extracurricular activities.. The heart of the school is contained in handsome 19th century buildings with many new additions including an outstanding sports complex.

Entry Requirements

Students wishing to study at West Buckland Schools are interviewed where possible and assessed to secure entry; the results of this, as well as references and previous test results, allows the Headmaster and Director of Studies to form an opinion as the suitability of the school to enhance the applicant's education.
