Overview

Caterham School was founded in 1811 and moved to the current location in 1884. It is situated on a beautiful 80-acre campus in a wooded valley. There are regular trains to London. International pupils from 20 countries represent 12% of the Senior School. Almost all pupils take ten GCSE/IGCSEs, selecting from a wide choice. All the sixth form progress directly to university, with over 85% going to one of the top tier.

Unique Points

We have a wide range of co-curricular activities and sports enabling students to develop their skills and interests. There are over 40 clubs and societies, ranging from chess to film club and from dance to kit car club. We offer 22 sporting activities ranging from fencing to tae kwon do. Academic, All-Rounder, Art, Music and Sports Scholarships are available to registered candidates. Additionally, at A-level we offer Science and Drama scholarships.

Entry Requirements

Pupils are selected for entry as boarding pupils by competitive examination which may be taken at the offices of one of our registered agents, and occasionally at the offices of the British Council in the candidate's country of residence. Close attention is paid to their current Head Teacher's report, and in some cases a Skype interview or interview at Caterham may be held prior to an offer of a place being made. All prospective pupils must complete the School's application form and pay the £100 application fee in order to be formally considered for a place at Caterham. Prospective boarders must submit their most recent school report with their application. The closing date for day applications is mid November of the year prior to entry. We consider boarding applications throughout the year, but prospective pupils are strongly advised to apply in September/October of the year prior to entry, or as soon as their Summer Term report from the previous year is available for consideration by the Head of Boarding.
