Overview

Within walking distance of central Oxford, Headington School occupies a secluded site amongst 23 acres of green space and sports fields. Despite its well-earned position in the academic "first division" and an impressive percentage of successful Oxbridge candidates, the School's real strength lies in its commitment to understanding and catering for the needs of each individual pupil. Around 70 girls play sports at county level and beyond, with seven county champion sides amongst Headington's sports teams.

Unique Points

The School's ambitious ongoing development programme continues to deliver a range of top-class facilities, with a new dance and fitness centre planned for September 2014, which will include a large training room for the School's highly successful boat club and a brand-new gym. Means tested bursaries of up to 100% of fees are also available, providing access for gifted girls who may otherwise have been unable to benefit from a Headington education.

Entry Requirements

Entry in to the Upper 3 at 11 is the largest entry point to the School. Girls join us from a wide range of Prep and maintained sector schools and entrance is by examination and interview. Entry to the school at 13+ is by the ISEB Common Entrance examination for girls currently attending independent prep schools. For girls from the maintained sector entry at 13+ is via the School's own examinations. UK-based sixth form applicants sit examinations at Headington in the November before their proposed year of entry, and places will normally be offered in early December. Interviews take place on the same day as the examinations. Girls proposing to join Headington in the sixth form will typically expect to gain a minimum of 6 GCSEs at grade A-B.
