Overview

Ashville College is an independent day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 4-18 years. It is in Harrogate, one of the North of England's most attractive towns. Founded in 1877 by the Methodist Church, their teaching, facilities and environment reflect the very best in contemporary education.

Unique Points

In 2009 the school was recognised as one of the Top 100 Schools in the UK. The ISC Inspection in 2010 reported boarding as "outstanding". Boarders at Ashville live in well-equipped and comfortable houses with no more than six students in any dormitory.

Entry Requirements

Pupils entering into Year 7 are asked to attend an assessment day in January. The day consists of a Maths, English and non-verbal Reasoning Exam. They are also interviewed by the Headmaster or a senior member of staff. In the afternoon the children take part in various activities around the school: Science experiments; Design Technology; Cooking; Art etc. to help give them a flavour of what is on offer at the College. Overseas applicants can sit the entrance examination and be interviewed in their own country. For admissions into Year 8 - Year 10 please contact the Registrar directly who will make arrangements for the child to be assessed at a convenient time. Entrance into Lower Sixth is offered on the strength of school reports, GCSE Mock Exam results and a meeting with the Headmaster and HEad of Sixth Form.
