Overview

An Abbotsholme education is an education for life. Established in 1889 and set in beautiful, rural surroundings, it is an independent co-educational boarding and day school for ages 2-18. The ISI inspectors recently commented that Abbotsholme is "outstanding, emotionally healthy and spiritually colourful". There are deliberately small classes of around fifteen in the Senior School, where academic excellence and achievement are in evidence every day.

Unique Points

Everyone is good at something at Abbotsholme. The school has outstanding facilities and including an indoor climbing centre, British Horse Society (BHS)-approved equestrian centre, working farm, theatre, music centre, art studio and extensive playing fields. One of his pupils said of his time here: "Although I have left Abbotsholme, Abbotsholme will never leave me".

Entry Requirements

If following the taster day, you  and your child are happy with how the day went, your child will need to sit a Maths and English assessment. At this point, you will need to complete a Registration form, which you can find at the back of your Information Book. You can also download the Registration Form. This should be completed and forwarded together with the £60 registration fee (£100 for overseas pupils). On receipt of your completed form, together with your registration fee of £60 (£100 for overseas pupils), the entry procedure will commence. As far as possible, all entrants are interviewed by the Headmaster which gives everyone an opportunity to ensure that Abbotsholme is the right school for each applicant. In addition, references may be obtained from the present school, and previous exam results may be taken into consideration, in order to ensure that we can properly meet the needs of all children attending Abbotsholme.
