Southampton Business School is the part of The University of Southampton situated in the city of Southampton, on the south coast of England. It is a founding member of the Russell Group and is ranked in the top 1% of global universities.

Accredited with The Association to Advance Collegiate schools of Business (AACSB), Southampton is a Business School that is truly distinctive via its multidisciplinary and integrated approach, with enhancing world-class, cutting-edge research that shapes future business practice and provides a responsible educational experience that connects people and organisations to deliver social and economic impact.

The School received a grading of 'excellent' for its teaching quality from the national Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. It currently has over 800 students from a variety of countries and backgrounds enrolled on its programmes.

Its world-leading academics deliver management research and education with rigour and relevance, solving real-world problems faced by businesses, organisations and governments and bringing together experts from a diverse range of business fields through an integrated enterprise strategy that reinforces connections with industry. 75% of its research was rated as being of internationally excellent or world-leading quality in the 2014 REF placing the University once again among the top 20 leading research institutions in the country.

Services for International Students

Southampton runs a meet and great service for students arriving in January and September, including a free pick up from Heathrow and Gatwick airports, as well as talks by staff members and events organised before and during the beginning of term. There is a dedicated international student support service and English language training unit, as well as several social and welfare networks.

Accommodation

The School is located in excellent accommodation on the University's attractive Highfield campus, where students have access to all services including, libraries, computing services, students' union and sports facilities. All international students are guaranteed accommodation for two years in University Halls of Residence and accommodation ranges from en suite to standard, with catered and shared room options available. The Accommodation Service can also help students find private rented accommodation, with regularly updated lists and guides on available properties.

Location

Southampton is a vibrant and lively city just over 60 minutes from London. There are convenient transport links to other UK and European cities, and the tourist towns of Winchester, Salisbury and Bournemouth are nearby, as is the New Forest and the world-famous Stonehenge. The English south coast, upon which Southampton is located, offers one of the warmest climates in the UK.

Known throughout history as the ‘Gateway to the World’, Southampton remains a significant international port. Its marina has hosted high profile international boating events such as the Volvo and the BT Global Challenge Round-the-World yacht races. The population of approximately 221,000 includes some 40,000 students and accordingly the city provides a wide variety of entertainment, sporting and leisure activities.
